Edith Beryl Kolb (“Beryl”) was born on September 28, 1930 at the start of the Great Depression. Her Mother died when she was four. Eventually, Beryl and her sister, Hope were adopted by their only maternal uncle, Roy Kolb and his wife, Nina. She was an honor student in High School but married Henry Robert Pinter (Deceased Dec. 6, 1999) in lieu of college. Beryl and Henry had four children: Diane Marie, Robert James, Susan Patrice and Cynthia Beryl. Later in life she attended numerous college courses in a variety of subjects from gun safety to Chinese cooking. She worked in the publishing industry for 21 years and was involved the publication of many books. 18 years ago, she retired to Mesa, AZ in order to spend time with her mother, Nina, before her death. Beryl was an active volunteer in her church and at the Red Mountain Senior Center. She had many hobbies including knitting, crochet, sewing, floral arrangements, china painting and cross stitch. She crocheted numerous layettes for preemies at the local hospital. She fell ill in December 2009 and passed away on the morning of December 4, 2010 at Arbor Rose/Hospice of the Valley. She is survived by her four children, Diane M. Lewis, Robert J. Pinter, Susan P. Tomlinson, Cynthia B. Pinter-Foley and their spouses, her sister, Hope Burke and her husband Claude, her grandchildren, maternal and paternal cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Beryl had hardworking hands and a golden heart. She will be missed by her family and friends.
