Grandpa its been a few months but I still miss you beyond words. Seems like just yesterday you and grandma took Alex and I to Disneyland "the happiest place on earth." Was one of the happiest places on earth but I would say the happiest place on earth was being at your house every summer. Thank you and grandma for all the unforgettable beautiful memories you gave us I love you both indefinitely.  

Doug heart broken to find out so late you were such a kind man I will miss our chats my emails my weekly calls I was so focused on me getting better the last month when I didn't get a response for Xmas I knew but didn't want to search for this.Ty for all the support as we both did treatment at the same time Rest in Peace my dear friend . I’m so thankful for Doug.  I’m so thankful that we were welcomed into his home for fellowship.  He was patient, kind and steady.  Those qualities give me simple and beautiful memories.  He was loved by everyone who met in his home.   

Always loved Doug's always smiling and positive demeaner and willingness to lend a hand at whatever task needed his expertise.  He was  true gentleman with a deep faith in God and his fellow man. 

Always with a smile as we entered the home on Sunday mornings and a hearty hand shake leaving. Good thoughts left with us each time to think on through the week.

We are grateful for the long shared friendship with Doug and his whole family.  Years of friendship from Flagstaff come to mind and all of the fellowship we have enjoyed since those days.  We are most thankful for the faithful finishes of both he and Julie.  A wonderful brother that walked with us in this path of life…..  a life well lived!

There aren't enough words to express how much we have valued Doug's friendship for the last sixty-three years - most of our lives. It's unsettling to look to future days without his kind and wise words. But he was content, thankful, and hopeful to the very end, and so we can be, too. We know we've had a great privilege to have such a friend and Godly influence. We'll be thinking of you children and grandchildren in the days to come.

The McMurry family lived in Flagstaff when I came there in 1958. Although Doug and I were 5 years apart in age, a bond of special friendship was formed that has only grown closer over the years.
In those early days, Doug and I spent many days roaming the mountains and canyons of northern Arizona. Then responsibilities came - jobs, homes being established. Doug stood with me when Jeanie and I were married, and then I with him when he and Julie were married. Very special privileges. Doug will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched in his kindness and gentleness but there is comfort in knowing that he is just where he wanted to be.

We are so grateful that we have gotten to know your Dad and Grandpa through the years!  I always felt very safe confiding with him about the decisions that come with living life.  He'd always remind me to stay balanced.  We already miss his presence here but know the memory of who he was shaped into and what he became will not easily fade.  He reminded me to "keep the faith" right up until just a few days before his passing.  We loved him tremendously and miss him but feel comforted by the knowledge of what he lived for and the faith that he kept.  We are thinking of you all as you go through this.

Dear Brett, Shari & family;
Doug talked often of the help you were to.him so he could stay in his home.
Your dad was a "Special" man to us " snowbirds".  Sharing his care/kindness & especially his home on Sunday am & getting together on occassion at some of the best restaurants in the area.
The last time I talked to him. was when the decision was made that there were no more "solutions" to his health problems.  He said actually I am "excited" about the next step!  Proof he was living for this day! Glad for the 7 years that we met Sunday am in his home & what he shared from knowing the God he served.  Also his love of your mother & the "joys" they shared together traveling & being a help in this fellowship while being a responsible citizen in his community.
He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

Doug was a good friend to me after Julie passed away. They were a great couple! Doug was an encourager and supporter and I will miss him as I've missed Julie. I'm thankful for the Godly example they both were to me. 

Doug was a "teddy bear" of a man and loved by many of us.  Years ago, he and Julie lived in the Sacramento area and we often got together, not only for play time for our girls, but for us adults, too.  Doug was a gifted  organ? piano? player and liked to play some of the old-time peppy music that my husband Charles remembered.  Julie said that often when Doug came home from the office late in the evening, he liked going to the basement family room to unwind playing some of that peppy music.  We missed them when they moved to AZ, but we visited a few times, not often.  However, we never lost touch.  As long as Julie was alive, we kept close through emails and phone calls.  Our mutual faith in the way of Jesus was the strongest bond.  We loved sharing special things we heard in the meetings, special notes of meetings shared by others, and what we'd been reading in God's Word our self.  Doug will be missed, as we miss Julie; but I believe they are both now where I believe Charles is, and where I'm striving to be -- in that place of eternal rest with God.

Doug was one of the kindest, most patient people I've ever known. Never a harsh word and complete understanding. I knew him more professionally, but I'm sure he was the same in his personal life. What a wonderful human being, and now at peace.
