Donna Marie Phelps Bates, having recently celebrated her 90th Birthday, passed away on April 29, 2015. She was born in Oakland California , March 11, 1925 to Rufus and Winnifred Phelps. She was an accomplished pianist, organist and shared her talents throughout her life. Many were blessed by her beautiful music. She met and married the love of her life, Dee Forest Bates, in 1946. They lived numerous places over the years where many long lasting friendships were made. They were blessed with 6 beautiful children. Donna took great pride as a Mother and Homemaker. She had a gift for quilting, sewing, painting, baking, and was always ready with a smile and a plate of cookies for whoever was at her door. She served her neighbors and God faithfully for many years including a mission to Hong Kong, the Family History Library Mission and organist in the Jordan River Temple. Donna is survived by her loving husband and caregiver Dee, sons David (Debbie), Reid (Kathy), daughters Dianna, Marsha (Dane), Susan (Bret), son in-law Reese Bandley. She was a fun loving, game playing grandma to 24 wonderful grandchildren, and 42 sweet great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Rick Phelps, (Virginia), and brother in-law John Spuhler. She was preceded in death by her beautiful daughter Lynn Bandley and her sweet sister Winnie Phelps.
