Debbi Furlong has moved on to her next adventure. She passed away on June 7, 2016. She was born in Nutley, New Jersey, August 25, 1951 to Alvin and Lorena Baxter-Green. She lived in Nutley the first half of her life, and moved to Mesa, AZ with her husband where they raised two children and made many friends. She will be missed by family and friends on both the East and West Coast.
She was a feisty wife and supportive mother. She loved to sew and dabble in arts and crafts. Her hobbies were skiing, traveling, attending Celtic festivals, and dressing up like a pirate at Jimmy Buffet concerts. If you asked her, though, she would say her most rewarding ‘hobby’ was being an adoring grandmother to Grace. Those who knew Debbi will remember her for her strength, sense of humor, and for unapologetically being herself. The sun will need to burn brighter to make up for the loss of her smile.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, William Furlong; daughter, Alison Johnson (and husband Clay); son, Kyle Furlong; and granddaughter, Grace Johnson. Additional survivors include: her father, Alvin Baxter-Green; brother, Scott Baxter-Green (and wife Deana); sister, Sheryl Pancaro (and husband Pete); brother-in-law, Joseph Furlong (and wife Lois); sister-in-law Barbara Hlad (and husband George); eleven nieces and nephews, and several grand nieces and nephews.
Memorials will be held to celebrate her life in Mesa and Nutley (dates to be determined). While flowers and donations are kind considerations, the family requests that you spend time with those you love, sing or dance to your favorite song, and take a trip somewhere you love. Enjoy your life. That is what Debbi would wish for you.
