David Hall, age 62, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, after a two-year hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was cared for by his loving wife, Rochelle (“Shelley”) Hall until his passing on Saturday with family and his beloved dog Ellie ever at his side. Many thanks to Hospice of the Valley for its tireless support and service during this exceedingly difficult time.
David was born in Lowell, MA on March 19, 1962. With Gods will and David’s good fortune he was enveloped into the loving arms of his adoptive parents, Edward and Joyce Hall. He grew up on Ronaldo Court in Rutland, VT until moving on to VT Technical College and becoming an Electrician. He had a delightful and active childhood and made many friends (love to you, Larry Abatiell) that he remained close with to his departing. David shared many treasured memories of his childhood with his parents, his younger sister Diane Hall (passed at age 28) and all the fun times they shared, including his dad taking him to the Red Sox Stadium (“Big Green”) and him sleeping with his baseball mitt on, and trips to Asbury Grove. David was an avid skier, raced on a ski team, and he and Ed spent countless time on the slopes of Killington. David was blessed to have spent time with his grandparents, Ralph, and Jessie Smith and Wendell and Anne Hall.
David moved to Oregon in his early 20’s and spent 20+ years in the electrical field working on commercial building projects in Portland and surrounding areas. The last 18 years of his career were in the sustainable energy field (in Arizona) where he lent his electrical and project management skills. He was a hardworking, determined, and passionate employee and person. He treasured the professional and personal friendships that he very easily developed everywhere he went.
In Oregon, he met his wife, Shelley. They relocated to Mesa, AZ in 2006. They were married on March 18th, 2003, in Wailea, Maui, where they last visited for their 19th wedding anniversary and where David presented Shelley with a chocolate diamond necklace on the beach adjacent to the hotel grounds where they had been married. He was always that kind of thoughtful, sentimental, and special man. David was the eager “travel agent” planning many fun filled and adventurous trips with Shelley to destinations over their 21 years of marriage. They relished time with family near and far, friends, BBQ’s, pool time and rounds of golf with friends known and friendships frequently formed on the golf course. May he rest in peace, surrounded by love and comfort, with loved ones that preceded him, and the joy of a great Oregon Pinot Noir, New England oysters, lobster, and endless rounds of golf. Until we meet again my dear husband, you are loved and missed so very deeply.
David’s death precedes his loving parents, Ed and Joyce Hall, his beloved wife, best friend and partner in life of 21 years, Shelley Hall, his stepson’s Joshua and John Brogan, daughter-in-law Christina, grandson Theodore, granddaughter Penelope, adored cousin Susan Moniz, husband Dan, Gail Holland, Robert (Bobby) Crowell, their children and others.
Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. In 2024, an estimated 51,750 people in the US will die from pancreatic cancer, which has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. You may donate specifically to pancreatic cancer research at pancan.org or a cancer research organization of your choice.
A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 6747 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa, AZ 85206. A funeral service will follow from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and a reception gathering with a Toast to David and appetizers from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
