Dale moved to Wisconsin in 1976, where he had his own auto body business, then moved back to Illinois in 1990. There he was an Auto Body Technician until retiring in 2015 and moved to Mesa, Arizona.
In Wisconsin, he enjoyed hunting, making maple syrup and raising animals on his small hobby farm. Dale loved listening to Jimmy Buffet and going to his concerts. He visited Key West, Florida 14 times. His family will be taking his remains to Key West for him to spend eternity. He loved cooking, while his friends and family loved eating his creations. In Mesa, he also enjoyed sitting on the patio and saying hello to people walking to the pool. This past year, he started building model airplanes.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Helen, Sister Joan Wehnert. He is survived by his wife Dianne, his Daughter Carrie (Forrest) Pecher, Step-Daughter Deb VanHouten, Step-Son Larry (Kim) Foster, four Nephews, Glenn Wehnert, Keith Wehnert, Terry Wehnert, Arthur (Tricia) Wehnert, one Niece Dawn (Paul) Voie and three Grandchildren Nikki Foster, Matthew Foster and Ashley VanHouten.
