Cruz Garcia, Jr., 71, of Glendale, AZ passed away on July 28, 2023, at Desert Banner Hospital in Mesa, AZ. He was born August 18, 1951, in Phoenix, AZ to the late Cruz and Susana (Montoya) Garcia. He proudly served twenty years in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. Cruz retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs after 34 years of employment.
Cruz was generally laid back and quiet but when he spoke, it was words of wisdom or humor. He was intelligent, loyal, funny, sarcastic, and the kindest, most loving man. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back if needed, truly a shining light in this world. You were truly lucky to have known and loved this man.
Cruz is survived by his wife, Debbie (Tuckey) Garcia, two sons; Jesse (Nicole) Malec, Tomas Garcia (Veronica Hidalgo); three grandchildren; Alexandria Malec, Briaunna Malec, and Liam Garcia; his brothers, Ramon (Susana) Garcia, Martin (Cristina) Garcia and Joe Garcia (deceased); his sisters; Margie (Robert) Faulkner, Rosemary Cornelio, Mercy (Christopher) Leal, Angie (David) Garcia, and Lupe Garcia (deceased) in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A committal service for Cruz will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
