Chris was born on March 14, 1973 in Tucson, AZ to parents Connie Montoya-Herbek and George Lopez and lived there until the age of four before moving to Lincoln Park, NJ where he spent the remainder of his childhood and young adult years.
Chris attended Boonton High School where he graduated in 1992 before going on to study Hotel Management at County College of Morris. After leaving college, he worked for several years at Foodtown of Pequannock before transferring to ShopRite of Lincoln Park. There he worked as a manager for several years where he was loved by employees and customers alike. Chris was a member of the UFCW Local 1262 Union.
Chris loved spending time with friends and family and was known for being a party planner and great host. He enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes and was always sure to send you home with food. He liked spending summers at the Jersey shore and nights out in New York City and was avid fan of the New York Giants and New York Yankees. Chris loved designer bags, shopping, reality TV, and animals, especially cats.
He is survived by mother Connie Montoya-Herbek and step-father Robert Herbek, father George Lopez, sister Nicole Montoya and fiancé Enzo Clapper, sister Linda Ramos and husband Jaime, brother Ryan Lopez and wife Pat, brother George Lopez, nieces and nephews Tiana, Rolando, Renae, Jonah, and Adrien, Aunt Bernice Villareal, Aunt Rosie McCracken and Uncle Steve McCracken, Aunt Diane Slaughter and Uncle Tim Slaughter, Aunt Joey Taylor, Aunt Elaine Montoya, former partner and longtime friend James Davenport, as well as many cousins, relatives, and friends that will miss him dearly.
Chris will always be remembered for his larger than life personality and huge heart. He had a beautiful soul and was always known for his kindheartedness and giving nature. He brought joy to everyone who met him and had a contagious smile and laugh that will never be forgotten. He was truly one of a kind.
A memorial service will be held on August 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mariposa Gardens 6747 E. Broadway Rd in Mesa, AZ.
