Christina “Chris” Marie Spencer passed away on August 6, 2013 in Gilbert, Arizona. Born in San Francisco, California to John and Virginia (nee Neff) Badgis, Chris arrived on July 3, 1957. She married John “Jack” Spencer, and they spent many years adoring each other. Loving life came easily to Chris; she had a zest for living that shone bright in all she did. Being outdoors brought Chris so much joy. If it involved hiking, boating, or biking, she loved it. Her being active didn’t stop there; however, she also coached volleyball and softball. Football season was her favorite time of year; she was the 49’rs biggest fan! Taking on flying was another hobby for Chris. She loved to be in the air. The girl could shop! Finding a bargain put a smile on her face. Jack and Chris loved to travel. The destination didn’t matter, from Mardi Gras to cruising, they just appreciated spending time together. The day she swam with the dolphins was one of her favorite days. Having a creative side, Chris also took pleasure in arts and crafts. She and Jack often would peruse the craft fairs and bazaars. Socially enthusiastic, it was easy for Chris to fit in wherever she was. It was not uncommon for her to sing with the band at parties. In fact, at a wedding she attended with Jack, she took the guitar player away from the band during their gig, and had him dancing while the rest of the band played on! Chris always knew how to have fun, and you would always find her with a smile on her beautiful face. With Chris everything had a place, and there was an order to everything. This helped when it came to her rescuing animals. She had such a big heart that if an animal was in need, Chris was right there taking care of them. Her caring, giving nature didn’t stop with animals. There was a nurse who took care of Chris that had just gotten her first dog. Chris had picked out a picture frame for her, and made Jack promise to get the frame to her, because she wasn’t well enough to take it herself. Her generosity and loving nature will live on in all who knew and loved her. Chris will forever be missed by her adoring husband, John “Jack” Spencer, brother, Michael (Stacy) Badgis, nephew Trent Badgis, 5 step-children, and 20 step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. following immediately will be a funeral service at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care 6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480) 830-4422.
