Chuck was born on March 19, 1933 in Windsor, Colorado to Joe and Katie Hoff. He grew up in Brush, CO and graduated from Brush High School in 1951 receiving the Pettis Family Scholarship. He went on to receive a degree in mathematics in 1955 from The University of Northern Colorado, then known as Colorado Teachers College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1955-1958 and had jobs as a teacher, beer truck driver, and with the National Bureau of Standards before he landed a job with IBM, which he loved and made his career for 25 years. It was there that he became a team leader and Systems Management Engineer and formed lifelong friendships with his team.
Upon his retirement, Chuck found time to get back to the things that he truly enjoyed, including traveling, cooking, woodworking, sewing, music, and singing. He was a loyal member of St. James, Chandler, and Dayspring United Methodist Churches through his adult life and found happiness singing in the church choir. He was a generous and dedicated individual who loved his family and enjoyed talking about his grandchildren’s accomplishments.
In 1953, Chuck married Shirley Schweers and began his family with three children: Paul Hoff (Katherine), Patricia Hoff, and Syndi Longtin (Mike). His family grew with the birth of his grandchildren, Luke Rodgers (Lisa), Kristen Oliver (Brian), and April Hoezler (Mike) and his great-grandchildren, Taylor and Austin Hoezler.
His family continued to grow when he married Dianne Hendrickson in 1984, and added David Hendrickson (Jan), Scott Hendrickson, and Susan Hendrix (Jim). Grandchildren, David S. Hendrickson, Sean Hendrickson, Casey Hendrickson (Matt), Sean Hendrix (Carrie), Katie Valente (Sam), and Joseph Hendrix as well as his great-grandchildren Kara, Gavin, Logan, Landon, Aiden, Aubrey, Brandon, Matthew, Joshua, Nathan, and great-great granddaughter Gabriella.
He married Jackie Hoff in 2008 and gained even more family including Chuck Reilly (Nancy), Pat Reilly, Kaia Ottersen (Henry), Tim Reilly (Kori), Gerald Reilly (Ruth), Kaycee Wharton (Mike), John Reilly, Kelly Reilly (Rosemary), and Roberta Fischer (David). Grandchildren Katie Cobb (Cosmo), Brock Reilly, Guy Otterson (Brandi), Crystal Ottersen, Michael Reilly (Amanda), Amanda Reilly (John), Jeffrey Reilly, Elizabeth Dana, Robert Wharton (Matilda), Maggie Hollon (KC), Sarah Brazwell (Bobby), Lacee Smith (Cole), Madisson Reilly, Jackie Ogunmodede (Seun), Dana Contreras (Pablo), Jacob Fischer (Julia), Anne Fischer, and Lynn Fischer as well as great-grandchildren Jayden, Jacob, Drew, Jackson, Edie, Audrey, Jayden, Lea, Emi, Miya, Kallie Grace, Olivia, Clariti, Lincoln, David, and Dominic.
Chuck was also very close to his brothers, Milton Hoff (Gloria) and Joe Hoff (Laney), and his niece Kelly Rairdon (Anthony), their children Kyle and Addalee and nephews Derek (Laura) and their children Brandon and Brian, and Eric (Terryl) as well as his in-laws Tom Dane (Karen) and Charlie LaPorte (Sylvia).
Chuck is pre-deceased by Joe and Katie Hoff, Shirley Schweers Hoff, Dianne Hendrickson Hoff, and Scott Hendrickson.
A funeral is scheduled in person and by live-stream at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 1595 S. Alma School Rd., Chandler, AZ 85286, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend as we celebrate Chuck’s life and a link will be posted for those who choose to watch virtually.
