Chuck passed away on June 24 following a long courageous battle with Lewybody disease. He was born in Rochelle, Il. To the late Charles and Ella Irene Herrmann in 1932. He also had a brother John, now deceased. Chuck graduated from Shabbona High School and went on to University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana to get his B.S. degree in Agriculture. There he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi. Soon after, he also got his pilot’s license. He loved flying and playing golf. After graduating he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. This experience taught him discipline and the organizational skills that he clearly exhibited during his life. Upon returning to the family farm, he met and married Michalene Franczek. They continued farming till moving to Mesa in 1999. Chuck also worked as deputy for the Lee County Sheriff Dept. in Dixon, Il. Chuck is survived by his wife, 3 children; Debra Hinkston (Gerry), Chuck Herrmann (Audrey), Janet Anderson and 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. The overwhelming compassion shown by Hospice of the Valley staff and the efforts to help him be as comfortable as possible cannot go unremarked. A Memorial Mass will be held on July 2, 11:00 am, Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 S. Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 2020 E.
