Charles Joseph Blum, passed away October 4, 2018 in Tempe, AZ. He Was born in Paso Robles, CA April 30, 1924 to Elizabeth and Charles H Blum. He grew up on the family farm outside Pocatello Idaho. Charles served in the US Army during WWII where he saw combat on the Island of Okinawa and completed his service in the pacific during the occupation. He was married to Elaine Evanoff of Fort Collins, CO in 1948. During the early years of their marriage they settled in Eldon, MO where they owned a Sears Catalog Merchant Business, were active in their community and raised a family.
He served his church and community in many ways. In 2001 he established "The Elaine and Charles (Chuck) A Blum Scholarship” for Eldon High School students in memory of his late wife and young son. Charles worked with the Eldon Ministerial Alliance to transfer ownership of his commercial property to the Eldon Food Pantry enabling them to increase their service to the community and surrounding area.
During his life in Eldon he was a member of 1st Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where he served on the board. He was active in Lions Club, Eldon Country Club, and Meals on Wheels. He loved the out of doors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting National Parks for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Jo Shahady, wife, Elaine, of 52 years and their son Chuck. He is survived by two nephews Carl Moser and George Shahady. Daughter Kathy and son in law Rick MacDonald of Phoenix,AZ. A granddaughter Megan MacDonald of Austin,TX , grandson Sean MacDonald and his wife Laura Hoffman of Carlsbad,CA.
He lived a full and honorable life, was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
His final resting place will be next to his beloved wife and son in Barnett, MO
