Carolyn Victoria Jones, 85 years old, of Dobson Ranch in Mesa, Arizona passed away on January 4, 2024. Married for 40 years to the late Leslie Jay Jones who passed away on September 5, 2022. She was a proud and loving mother of 5 children: 4 daughters Sandy Alberts (NYC), Suzie Swafford (Phoenix), Stacy Sigman (Berthoud, CO), Shelly Greene (Saratoga, CA) and stepson John Dresh (Chandler). Carolyn’s 9 grandchildren brought her great joy and she delighted in spending time with them: Whitney and Natalie White, Nathan and Rachel Sigman, Jessica and Edward Greene, Nicholas, Tyler and Kennedy Dresh.
Born in Pittsburgh on September 18, 1938 she was raised in Millville. She was a graduate of Mount Alvernia high school. She never forgot her Pittsburgh roots and remained an avid Steelers fan. She will return home to be laid to rest in the Rossitz family plot in St Anthony’s cemetery.
Carolyn was a devout Catholic and a daily communicant. She passionately volunteered her time at Resurrection Church leading the rosary, serving food to the homeless and washing the alter linens. She served as a Eucharistic Minister visiting and praying with the sick at Banner Dessert hospital for 28 years. She taught CCD and loved being around children. While waiting for her own grandchildren, she worked at Sunrise Preschool for several years. She always had a smile, kind words and wonderful sense of humor. During her final days, her church helped her peacefully pass with Father Thomas giving her final rites and her dear friends Earlene Flener and Josie Jimenez giving her communion daily.
Relatives and friends are invited to her rosary service on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 5pm at Lakeshore Mortuary 1815 South Dobson Road in Mesa; followed by a visitation until 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10am to 11am at Resurrection Church 3201 S. Evergreen Road in Tempe. Carolyn’s favorite color was purple and to celebrate her life and cheerful disposition we invite you to wear something purple!
