Dear Bonnie and family,
  I’m still wrestling with the news that Carl is gone.   It is my hope that you are coping and healing.   He was a strong presence in my life, and the lives of a great many others, for a long time.   We’ve missed him greatly since the lure of Arizona was successful.  Now we’ll miss him forever more.    Take care of yourself.   All good wishes.

As an intern at the Minneapolis Tribune in 1978, Carl in his editing role allowed me to see the possibilities.  He was smart, dedicated , kind and encouraging to this young pup. He was such an intricate part of the news operation and a great host to those of us who didn’t want to call it a night after the Little Wagon shooed us out. 

Those memories make me smile. Thank you for sharing him with us. 

May the love of family and friends bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Carl always greeted us with a smile when he came to chamber music concerts.  His love for music radiated in his eyes. Two years ago we invited him to be on our board because he was passionate about the Phoenix Chamber Music Society. 

I will miss our conversations about music and his shining smile. If there is anything I can do, don't hesitate to call.
