Betty Marie Griffith

Betty Marie Griffith passed away on Friday the 16th of January 2015, at Arbor Rose Assisted Living. She was 88 years old.

Mrs. Griffith was born April 26, 1926, at Elkhorn, WV. She was the daughter of Gordan and Mary Elizabeth Stoots. She resided in Princeton, WV for approximately 30 years, a few years in Roxboro, NC, and the last 30 years in Mesa, AZ.

She worked in retail prior to retiring. She enjoyed dancing, singing, playing the guitar and piano. She also loved playing board games with her friends.

Mrs. Griffith, was a member of Stapley Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and she also volunteered for Casa de Amor, in Mesa.

She was preceded in death by the following: Her mother and father, Gordan and Mary Elizabeth Stoots. Her first husband Herman Lee Hicks, the father of her three oldest children. Charles W Griffith, husband for 53 years and the father of her three youngest children. Her two brothers and their spouses, Jim Stoots, Herman and Juanita Stoots and their son. Her three sisters and their spouses, Ruby her two husbands and three children, Winnie and Issac Mitchen and four of their children, May and Gordon Holten and one of their sons.

Mrs. Griffith is survived by her six children and their spouses. Thomas and Sandy Hicks of Greenwood, DL, Irelene Skelly of Mesa, AZ, Ronny and Margaret Hicks of Roxboro, NC, Wayne Griffith of Athens, GA, CW and Libby Griffith of Burlington, NC, and Debra and Brett McCabe of Mesa, AZ. Ten grand children, 12 great grand children, and one great great grand son. And so many nieces, nephews, and cousins all over the world.

She was loved and will be missed.

Funeral services will be at the same place on Saturday the 24th of January, 2015, at 10:00 AM.

She will be buried at the Mesa Cemetery, Mesa, AZ.
