Barbara Pipitt

Barbara Iolene (Gasseling) Pipitt passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Arizona at Hospice of the Valley Friendship Village where she succumbed to her 36 year battle with cancer. She was born March 30, 1933 to Frank and Celestia (Hollinrake) Gasseling in Hemingford, NE. She married Morris Dean Pipitt on June 14, 1951.

Barbara was an excellent farm wife, cook, gardener, seamstress, crafter and above all was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.

Morris and Barbara farmed southwest of Hemingford for over 45 plus years. They enjoyed many “Snowbird” winters in Texas and Arizona, before permanently moving to Arizona in 1999.

She is survived by her husband, Morris of 64 years; daughters Denice (Mike) Yardley of Oklahoma City; Susan (Bruce) Winten of Hemingford, NE; Carolyn (Bob) Phillips of Hemingford, NE; and son

Greg Pipitt (Cindy) of Alliance NE, 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren; sister Madaline Manion of Alliance NE; and sisters-in-law Orleatha Gasseling of Pomeroy WA and Joan Gasseling of Seattle WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Eleanor Gasseling, brothers Harold Gasseling, Kenneth Gasseling and Edward Gasseling; brothers-in-law Thomas Manion, Mohammed Tafala, sister-in law Marjorie Tafala Pipitt; niece Colleen Messersmith; nephews William Manion and Dennis Manion.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 3, 2015 at St. Bridgets Catholic Church, Hemingford, NE at 10:30 am with interment in the Hemingford Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Hemingford Volunteer Fire Dept., American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
