Barbara Ann Gilbert

Barbara A. Gilbert, age 94, passed away peacefully of natural causes during the early morning hours on New Year’s Day. She is survived by all her 4 children and their spouses – John Gilbert (Sandi), Jeff Gilbert (Marianne), David Gilbert (Linda) and Ann Gilbert-Weigel (Jonathan) – 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Barbara was born Barbara Ann Person in Hillsboro Oregon to parents Jack and Elsie Person, raised in that area and then met Robert D. Gilbert, her future husband, while attending the University of Oregon. She married her husband, Robert D. Gilbert in 1950.

Barbara resided in the greater Portland Oregon area for all but 2 years between 1950 and 1991 – surviving the challenges of being a housewife with 4 overly energetic children! Barbara and her husband Bob moved to east Mesa Arizona in 1991. Barbara remained in east Mesa after her husband Bob’s passing in 2010. In 2016, Barbara moved into a Christian Independent Living Facility, Fellowship Square. While there, Barbara made many friends and participated in many social interactions.

Barbara has been a devoted Christian all her life, living a fulfilled life in Christ, demonstrating to family, friends and others that she truly was one of God’s most loyal and humble servants.

Barbara’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at Fellowship Square on 17 JAN at 2 PM
