Arthur Otto Froehlich Jr. was called to his Heavenly Home Saturday, February 17, 2018 with his family at his side. He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years, Patricia; four daughters Christine, Julie, Jennifer and Gretchen; three sons-in-law Bob, James, and Mark; seven grand children Kyle, Nathan, Adam, Samantha, Chloe, Emma and Grace; and his dogs Toby and Duke. He had extended family in Tucson, Arizona, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Art Jr. was the son of Mary and Arthur Sr. and grew up in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed camping, Boy Scouts, and sports. Later, the Family moved to New York and Art took an active interest in Ham Radio Operations and Meteorology. He played for the local football team as a linebacker and enjoyed music.
Art Jr. earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the NYIT and grew his career working for engineering giants like ITT, Motorola, and Iridium, among others. During this time, Art owned and operated a knife store that he and his wife managed. After 35 years of Corporate America, Art retired and pursue his passion for cooking. In 2002 he graduated from Scottsdale Culinary Institute - Cordon Blue- and worked for The Ritz Carlton as a Garmage Chef and later a Sommelier. Art ,then, ventured off to start his own restaurant, The Grill on Main in Downtown Mesa. He made the best burgers and cheese steak sandwiches in town!
His favorite football team was Philadelphia Eagles. He was thrilled to see them win against the Patriots in the Super Bowl this year.
Arthur was a avid historian. He enjoyed buying, and selling knives. He loved his family and gave great advise. His legacy will live on as a positive person who was realistic, loving and supportive. A family man who greets everyone with a smile and handshake. He was is liked by all and will be greatly missed.
