Anthony “Tony” Gambino, passed away peacefully on October 1st, after a long illness. Tony was born October 29, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan. He was 83 years old and lived a full and happy life. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was a passionate car enthusiast, a skilled plumber, loved fishing and a devoted hockey player and coach. Some of you may have known my dad personally or seen his beautiful custom cars at various shows and events. He loved building and customizing cars since he was a teenager, and he was a member of several car clubs in Southern California. Tony was also a fisherman who adored freshwater fishing and fly fishing in Canada. He also played ice hockey for 45 years with his son Jeff, his son-in-law Shane, and many other friends. He ran the “Wednesday Night Pick Up” league for 28 years. He was always friendly, funny, and very generous.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Marion (LaMountain) Gambino, his brother Gary and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sheila, his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Lori, his daughter Leslie and son-in-law Shane Kelly, his seven grandchildren, and his six great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by many other relatives and friends. The family will be holding a private graveside service in California and will hold a celebration of life at a later time. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you so much for your support and friendship.
