Anthony was born in Detroit, Michigan, September 22, 1932 to Ross and Antoinette D'Angelo. He was the first son of five children, his older sister Mary Nagy was there to greet ‘Toots’ in heaven; Daniel D’Angelo, Becky Stitt, and Gene D’Angelo still reside in Michigan.
Anthony proudly served as an aircraft mechanic in the Strategic Air Command division of the US Air Force. After his tour of duty he went on to work with Ford Motor Company in Research & Development. The smell of jet fuel and the blue skies again called out to him and he went to work for American Airlines until his retirement in 1996 after 42 fun-filled years of service. After retiring, he became a licensed private pilot.
Anthony's first love was God and his family. He shared God’s Word with his family, and those he encountered. If you met Anthony, you knew he loved God, and that love radiated in his smile and happy disposition. He greeted those in the neighborhood, stores, restaurants, hospitals, clinics, etc. with ‘Where are you from originally?’ after a brief or long conversation he would invite them to talk to the God ‘like you are talking to me’. He would tell them to listen to the small voice down inside and do what God said to do and ‘you will NEVER go wrong’.
Anthony was mechanically gifted and enjoyed helping everyone in any way possible. It was his delight to fly and work on his son’s airplane, which he adopted as his own.
Anthony enjoyed a good party and traveling. His ‘Flying High’ 80th birthday party in September was truly a surprise and he enjoyed all who joined in the festivities. The Alaskan cruise with the entire family celebrating his 50th Anniversary was one of his favorite adventures.
Anthony is survived by his devoted wife, Esther of nearly 57 yrs., his daughter Dalene Edwards and her husband Bruce; his son Dale D’Angelo; and his daughter Darla Roberts and her husband Michael; and their three children, Anthony, Brenden, and Calyssa; and the many who were his extended family.
