She was the daughter of Salvador and Mariana (Hernandez) Vargas. Anna grew up in El Paso, Texas.
Anna was the oldest of seven siblings comprised of four brothers and three sisters. She had four brothers, Joseph, Salvador, Fernando and Roger and three sisters, Estella, Alicia and Irma. Anna was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Anna married Macario Duran on February 23, 1950 in El Paso, Texas. Empathic and loyal, Anna was committed to making her new family happy.
Anna worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Anna was blessed with five children; four sons, Ricardo, David, Danny and Michael and one daughter, Martha Adair. Another blessing for Anna was the gift of fourteen grandchildren; Thomas Joseph Duran, Daniel Fletcher Duran, Rachel Marie Duran, Andrea Lathrop, Nicholas Adair, Victoria Ann Blosl, Tamara Lynn Duran, Anthony Daniel Duran, Christopher Macario Duran, Christina Allison Jordan, Michael Donald Duran, Cheyenne Deveroux Duran, Montana Blaze Duran, and Hugo Castaneda and fifteen great grandchildren.
Anna passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Caissa House, Vintage Ranch in Gilbert, Arizona from natural causes. She is survived by her children Ricardo, David, Danny and Michael; all fourteen grandchildren and all fifteen great grandchildren; and her sisters; Estella, Alicia, Irma and her brother Roger.
Anna’s visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8th from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeshore Mortuary.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1730 W. Guadalupe Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202.
The graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 9th at Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 N. Center St., Mesa, AZ 85201.
Simply stated, Anna was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Anna leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Anna Duran.
