Born on April 27, 1955 in Lakeland, FL, he was the son of the late Rev. William Reed and Naomi Willetts Reed.
He was a Veteran of the US Army, 101st Airborne Division. He was an Intelligence Analyst who was promoted to Sergeant in June 1983. Among his awards while serving, he received an award for Joint Special Operations Command, Air Assault Combat Intelligence Battalion, and the Army Achievement Medal. After his military service, he worked as a claims adjuster for 22 years. He spent most of his career with USAA. He also worked for Nationwide and Geico. He was an insurance salesman for the last 8 years of his career with Senior Benefit Services. He retired and moved to Florida in 2016. He was a 1973 graduate of Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Jct. WV, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1978 from Shepherd College (now University), Shepherdstown, WV.
He was an active member of Calvary Assembly of GOD in Ranson, WV, where he served as a church deacon, song leader and taught Royal Rangers for many years.
He moved to St. Cloud, FL in 2016 and attended St. Cloud Church of GOD for several years, before moving to Merritt Island, FL, where he last attended Merritt Assembly of GOD. Wayne had a deep faith and believed in the power of prayer. .His strong faith in GOD was instilled in him from a young age from growing up under his father’s ministry and the example set by his Mother and Father.
He loved to hunt with his father and brothers and he loved fishing just as much. He was a quiet person until he got to know you, unless you wanted to talk about sports, hunting or fishing. He loved spending time with his family and traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Niecee, whom he married on March 23, 1991. One daughter, Jessie Larson and husband Andy of Merritt Island, FL, one son, Jeremy Reed of Merritt Island, Two brothers, William Reed, Jr. and wife Elaine, of Ranson, WV, Jess Reed and wife Sharon of Gaithersburg, MD, one Sister-in-law, Susan Reed of Mt Airy, MD., and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. William Reed, Sr., mother Naomi Reed, one brother, Mark Reed and one nephew, William Reed III., Paternal grandparents, Jess Clinton Reed, wife Maria Williams Reed and maternal grandparents, Frank Willetts, wife Julie Ann Skidmore
Services will be held at Merritt Assembly of GOD, 165 N. Grove St, Merritt Island, FL with Pastor Bob Arthurs officiating. Family will receive friends at Merritt Assembly on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022 at 10:00am for viewing with services following at 11:00am. Services will be live streamed on Merritt Assembly of God’s Facebook page and also on Youtube – Merritt Assembly of GOD.
Interment will be on Thursday, Feb 3, 2022 at 9:00am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 5525 US-1, Mims, FL.
