Patricia was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and lived briefly in Washington, D.C. before moving to Saddle Brook, New Jersey to marry her husband, Alan Ostendorp in 1963. As an Air Force wife of 27 years, Patricia lived many places including Northern Maine, where she had the unique position of being the only cosmetologist in that part of the state. She also lived in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Ohio, and finally Florida. While raising three children, Patricia was an active mom with Cub Scouts, Brownies, and taught Sunday School at Holy Name of Jesus in Indialantic, Florida. When she wasn’t sewing, drawing or writing, she was creating and repurposing items for home décor. Later Patricia pursued her true passion Interior Decorating and teaching others how to create a beautiful home. She taught as an instructor in this area for over 25 years at Brevard Community College, now Eastern State College.
Patricia will always be remembered and loved by her husband of 56 years, Alan. She is survived by her three children Mark Ostendorp and his wife Michelle, Karen Ostendorp Hardin and her husband Leslie, Sarah Besuegli and her husband John, plus four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life at a later date in The Woodlands, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patricia’s name to METAvivor an organization dedicated to Metastatic Breast Cancer Research, Support and Awareness, http://www.metavivor.org/about-us/
