August 9, 1948 - November 18, 2024
Joe Welnack passed away peacefully at home in Rockledge, Florida after an extended illness, surrounded by family at the age of 76.
Joe ably served his country in the Vietnam era as a Master Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force retiring honorably after twenty years. His tours of duty aside from three tours in Vietnam included stints in Japan, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
Having a strong entrepreneurial and work ethic streak from an early age, he created his own successful companies in the used auto and furniture businesses. Even while he was serving in the military. A real go getter! He was a generous man, donating to charities such as food banks and children’s health care. He had a soft spot for the downtrodden and kids in need of quality medical care, in light of never having children of his own.
He was predeceased by father Joe Welnack, mother Virginia (Hannon) Welnack, and sister Susan (Welnack) Tranchida. Survived by siblings Charles, Bruce, Karen (Welnack) Hund, Scott Velniak, nephew and business partner Salvatore Tranchida and several other nephews, nieces and grand-nieces.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.(Wylie-BaxleyMerritisland.com).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Second Harvest Food Bank and St. Jude Medical Research Center or your local Children’s Hospital are appreciated.
