On Saturday, January 26, 2019, James (Jim) Lloyd Beattie, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 69 before entering Epcot. Jim was born June 29, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA. Jim was a friend to anyone one who would allow him to start a conversation with them. Jim’s parents settled in Lithia, FL around the mid 50’s. Jim and Elaine got married February, 1972 in Lakeland, FL. Then in 1984, Jim, Elaine, Glenda, and Jennifer moved to Cocoa Beach, where they lived until 2007. Then they resided in Canaveral Groves, until his passing. Jim work as a mechanical inspector for ITT from 1984 to 1992. He started a truck driving career shortly after ITT closed their Rockledge doors. In 2000, Jim and Elaine hit the road as long-distance truck drivers. Elaine lasted 53 weeks on the road before she went back into an office job. Jim continued working at the trucking company until he joined FL Department of Transportation.
Jim volunteered as Chapter Director for the Cocoa Chapter of Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He stayed active with the Chapter after stepping down in 2018. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Bob, his mother, Betty, and his brother Robert Jr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elaine, daughter Glenda, her husband Jack, daughter Jennifer, her husband Tommy, and grandchildren Michaela, Jessica, Jaxson, Corey, Brandon, and Tyler. Visitation will be held at 12pm on February 3, 2019 with Funeral Services directly after at 1pm at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home 1360 N Courtenay Pkwy Merritt Island, FL 32953. Donations to the Brevard County Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
