Jack Elton Mynheir went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2012. Jack was born in Man, West Virginia, and attended Man High School. In 1949 he enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with five stars and the United Nations Service Medal. After three years in the service, Jack moved to Chicago to attend DeVry University in the Draftsman Program. He then relocated to Florida to start work in the budding space industry with several aerospace firms. He worked his way up from a draftsman to a Senior Engineer with Lockheed, where he won numerous awards for his engineering, including the Andy Petro award for excellence in Engineering. Jack was involved in many of the key programs at Kennedy Space Center, including the Titan II, Apollo, Gemini, and the Space Shuttle.
Jack was also a loving and devoted father and is survived by his three children—Robert (Cheri) Mynheir, Cyndi Mynheir Krueger, and Mark (Lori) Mynheir, as well as his six grandchildren, Jason Mynheir, Kelly, Mynheir, Joshua Krueger, Chris Mynheir, Shannon Mynheir, and Justin Mynheir, and two great grandchildren.
Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors. He traveled the world to Egypt, Europe, and Mexico and had exuberance for life. He always had a smile on his face and always made those around him laugh and enjoy life with him. He will be sorely missed.
