Ms. Fern Vontelle (Isaacs) Coppedge, age 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of Cocoa, Florida passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Vontelle was born in Pasadena, CA. She spent her childhood years in California as well as in Washington.
After she graduated college with her bachelor’s degree, she taught school and was married.
She also taught school and sold Tupperware while living in Tennessee. Later she moved to Cocoa Beach and then to Cocoa, Florida about the time that the space program was starting to take root. She would watch from her own front yard as rockets launched into space.
Continuing to follow her passion for teaching, Vontelle taught first grade students at Cambridge Elementary for twenty years.
She sang in the Brevard Chorale as well as the choir at First Baptist Church of Cocoa, FL, where she was an active member. Other cherished hobbies included reading and doing word-search puzzles.
Vontelle was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn.
She is survived by her former husband, Frank Coppedge; daughter, Annette Crawford; granddaughter, Rachel Crawford; great-grandsons, Jayden and Josiah Crawford.
Vontelle's loving and friendly smile will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home located at 1360 N. Courteney Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953
