Debbie Bacon

Debbie H. Bacon, 97, of Merritt Island, FL, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015. A native of Claxton, GA, Debbie moved to Florida in 1957. She was the first custodian when Merritt Island High School opened in 1964.

Debbie attended Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Heroine of Jericho. She enjoyed puzzles and cooking, which she did for many churches. She loved baking fruitcakes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Tommy Bacon; son, Larry; and daughter, Judy.

She is survived by 3 sons: David, Johnnie J. (wife, Dorothy), and Bernard; daughter, Genette Edwards; sister, Edith Hendrix; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Hospice of St. Francis: 1250 Grumman Pl, Titusville, FL 32780.

A visitation will be held Friday (3/20) at Wylie-Baxley from 6-8PM and Saturday (3/21) at Woody Simpson Park from 10-11AM with a service to follow at 11AM. Interment will follow services at Brevard Memorial Park.
