David W. Benton, 66, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010. He was the son of Deward and Bessie Benton. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Benton; son, Travis; daughter, Alexis; father, Deward Benton of Cocoa Beach; brothers, Deward Benton of Jacksonville and Darryl Benton of Rockledge; as well as his sisters, Deborah Vanderslice of North Carolina and Dee Turner of Merritt Island. David was born in Anchorage Alaska on February 4, 1944. He served in the Army for three years and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War where he received three medals for his service. After attending college, he worked at the Kennedy Space Center as a Manager and Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Dave will be remembered for his friendly, out going personality and his inviting smile. He was a very loving and involved father and dedicated family man. Services will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Association for the FTD www.ftd-picks.org.
