My family and I were on our weekly Zoom call together during this pandemic, and Mr. Goldenberg's name came up, so we did a search. I am so sorry to hear of his passing so many years later. I know my parents have great memories of their friendship. I found this photo from my bat mitzvah reception in 1981 that I thought you would like. 

What Dave Lewis left out in his comments were,,that for over 3 years i tried to get Dave to join Al and I for our gig at Heidi's jazz club. Dave totally refused until Al finally asked him last March,,,,and Dave was on stage the next day. I first worked with Al at the Melbourne Hilton in 1997,,,and i have enjoyed these last 4 years of working with him at Heidi's. i hope that Mardi realizes how much we all appreciated her sharing Al with the rest of us. When I needed him for a gig, he would always say,,"I wanna disuss it with Mardi, first",,,as that was always his priority,,,and rightfully so. I was so honored when Al asked me to play a party at the M.I. Library that was given in Mardi's honor. To say that he will be missed is an enormous understatement. i hope to see many of yoiu at The Humane society on Oct. 4th, for the dedication of a brick in Al's honor.Steve Kirsner

A few months ago, Al asked me if I would take his place at Heidi's while he was In Miami undergoing treatments for his illness.  I agreed to help him out.  I may sit on the stage where Al would normally sit, but I could never take his place.  Al was one of a kind with his infectious smile and sense of humor, not to mention his warm vocals and great reed playing.  I worked with him for at least 20 years playing dixieland and dance music and I will always remember the good times we had doing so.  Thanks for the memories.  My heartfelt thoughts to Mardi and Al's family.

We have many fond memories of Al and all of you when we were neighbors many years ago. Al will forever be remembered in our hearts.

I have so many childhood memories of Al since his daughter Mindi was my best friend growing up . I remember him taking us to the field at MI High School to launch rockets he had made, building obstacle equipment in his backyard for Mindi, and telling us to be quiet after lights out at sleep overs when we couldn't stop giggling as little girls do. I cherish those memories.  I hope that Mardi, Mindi and Jodi find comfort and peace at this time, and know that my thoughts are with you always.

To put it simply, Al was really fun!  He was my favorite boss in all of my time at NASA KSC.

Mardi, will miss Al so much, especially his sense of humor.  Also will never forget how very kind he was to my dad when we brought Dad to Heidi's for an evening of jazz.  Dad and we enjoyed it so much and Al made the evening wonderful.  Even Andy told me that he thought it was great that Al made Grandpa feel so special. So sorry to hear about Al's passing from your brother Walter.  I will always remember our great Mother's Days spent at Joanie and Walter's house in Delray Beach. Al was a wonderful friend, neighbor and musician.   We will miss seeing him walking his dogs in the neighborhood.   We will miss hearing him play his clarinet at Heidi's.   Now he is with my Uncle Frannie who he accompanied at Heidi's singing "Embraceable You" to a room full of happy customers.  We will miss your friendly personality Al.   Rest in Peace.

During visits to Heidi's I meet Al while he was performing with the Steve Kirsner's band.  He was a great singer and clarinet player.  I also got to know Mardi at dance lessons in Rockledge.  What a wonderful couple and so devoted to each other.  He is certainly missed by a lot of people at Heidi's and I will always remember his good sense of humor.  He is truly missed.  It was my pleasant to get to know both of them in the last couple of years.

Al cared for many of God's creatures with boundless energy and wonderful humor.  I feel privileged to have known him - my deepest sympathy to his family.

Alan was our wonderful, giving, human, generous, and brimming over with hospitality cousin.  His father and Rae Morris Landis' father were brothers.  We are comforted by the fact that he was able to pass peacefully with his family around him.  We only wish that we could have been there as well. I was Mardi's roommate when she met Al at U of Fl...They were a beautiful couple who enjoyed doing so many wonderful activities together. Al was an engineer, played beautifully in a band and had the most melodic singing voice ever! My husband and I had the pleasure of watching Mardi and Al dance together..What talent!!!. He will be sorely missed and will never be replaced..Peace, my friend!!
