STRATTON, JR., DR. ALBERT FITE, of Cocoa, FL, entered into rest on Friday, July 22, 2011. Dr. Stratton was born in Sarasota, FL, on May 22, 1926 and attended public schools in Leesburg, Florida, where he was captain of his high school basketball team and first trumpet in the high school band. He attended The University of Florida and graduated with B.S. Degree. He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Tulane University, where he received and award for senior research. He co/authored articles in The New England Journal of Medicine and. The Florida Medicine Association Journal. He also did some private drug research prior to FDA approval for Merch & Co. He spend two periods in the service, one as a naval line officer and the other as a physician in the Army Medical Corps. He was president of the Brevard County Medical Society and of the Wuesthoff Hospital Staff, plus served on the Wuesthoff Board of Trustees for a few years. He was a county director for the Southeast Bank of Brevard County. He was member and past president of The Cocoa Kiwanis Club. He was a licensed pilot and a medical examiner for pilots for the FAA. He and three others started the Brevard Medical Group of Cocoa in 1960 which remained in operation for over three decades until taken over by Wuesthoff System. He was the last of the original members to retire in 1992. Since retirement, he divided his time between Florida and Brevard, North Carolina. He was devoted to the University of Florida athletics and had season tickets for many years during football season. He also have a wide interesting in music from opera to blue grass. He felt strongly about animal protection and gave to the Humane Society, as well as Salvation Army and Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include his wife Nancy C. Stratton; plus two children, AS Stratton IS! who is a supervisor at Disney World; and a daughter, Susan Stratton of Brooklyn, NY., who is a therapeutic massage therapist. There are two grandchildren, James E Stratton and Michael D. Stratton, both of Orlando. Dr.
Stratton's father died at 104 years of age in Orlando. His mother died at 96 years of age in Orlando. There are four stepchildren, Juan Manuel CarrilIo MD, who is an immunologist graduated and works for Reina Sofia Hospital in Spain; Mauricio Carrillo, who has a journalist Degree and works for FXstreet.com in Spain; Alexandra Ashley who is an electrical engineer and works for General Electric in Cincinnati; and Carlos G. Carrillo who is a musician and business adviser for Wells Fargo in Denver. At the request of the family services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, Merritt Island, FL.
