Funeral services for J.W. “Scratch” Rash will be held Tuesday at 2pm in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. Bro. Tommy Miller and Rev. Billy James will be officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church cemetery.
Mr. Rash, 66, of Collinsville, passed away Thursday at his residence. After working for several companies, he began his own business, Scratch Pest Control, which he successfully operated until his retirement. Mr. Rash was loved by his many family members and friends. He was definitely a people person who enjoyed getting to know others. He never met a stranger, always putting others at ease during his conversations.
Survivors include his daughter Melissa Rash Spears (David); grandchildren Casey Spears and Austin Spears (Austin); brother Robert Rash (Debra); sisters Helen O’Brien (Bob) and Pauline Wilkerson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews along with many friends.
Mr. Rash was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Audie Rash; brothers Billy, William and Jimmy Rash and sister Lillian Scarbrough.
Pallbearers will be Keith Page, Ron Walker, Mike Barber, Alan Knight, Joe Roberts and Wayne Roberts. Honorary pallbearers include Eddie Watkins, Ronnie Reed, Steve Phillips, Bob O’Brien, Steve Graham and John Branning.
Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm the day of the service.
