Services for Mrs. June Gray Snowden will be held Saturday, July 5 at 3:00 pm at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 2pm. Rev. Bill Webb, Rev. Wayne Edwards and Rev. Keith Grubbs will be officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Snowden, 91, of Meridian, passed away Thursday. She was a lady who lived a very active life. She was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. during World War II. Upon her return to Meridian, she was very active in her community, a 4 H leader, a member of the Garden Club and was active in her church. She was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church and also Midway Baptist Church. Mrs. Snowden was the co owner of Wedding and Reception, Inc. with her long time friend Peachie Saxon; and later owner of Junes Ceramics. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a loving mother to several of her nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Snowden is survived by her husband of 70 years, Thomas Snowden; daughters, Nancy June Van Doren (Tommy Beeman), Mary Ann Krauss (Jim); granddaughters, Theresa Van Doren, Missy Weaver (Richard), Tara Worth (Dave) and Lynn Field (Tim). She is also survived by eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Willie Gray, brothers, Charles Gray and Harry Gray and sister Margaret Giffin.
Pallbearers will be Danny Miles, Wilburt Easom, Mike Bateman, Dale Nickolas, Flynt Tedder, Charles Higgenbotham, Joel Harrison and Richard Knox. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Krauss, Tommy Beeman, David Giffin, Charles Hurst, and Butch Gray.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Ms June’s caregivers Mary Wilson, Kim Broach, and Shirley Brown in addition to extending their heartfelt appreciation to Silver Leaf Memory Care for the love and care shown to her during her time at Silver Leaf.
