Services for Ethel Vegh Smith will be held today, at 11 a.m., at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Drs. Marcus Finch and Mike Russell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 86, of Meridian, went to her eternal Heavenly home on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Silverleaf Manor in Meridian. Ethel has been a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church for the last 53 years.
Survivors include her children: Evelyn Massey of Meridian, Mary Harrison of Meridian, Haskel Smith and his wife Robin of Collinsville, and Hazel Brumfield and her husband Jim of Meridian; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Lydia Webre and husband W. A. of Metarie, La.; brother, Steve Vegh Jr. of Jackson; four sisters-in-law: Evelyn Casey of Gulfport, Laura Smith of Mobile, Ala., Dot Smith of Poplarville, and Mary Dell Smith of Poplarville; and one brother-in-law, Louis Smith of Poplarville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Connie R. Smith; her parents, Steve and Mary Vegh; sister, Joyce Owens; brother, Paul Vegh; and granddaughter, Kimberly Smith.
Pallbearers will be Brian Massey, Chris Massey, Dan Moody, Jimbo Harrison, Haskel Smith and Jim Brumfield.
The family request that any donations be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 3938, Meridian, MS 39303.
Visitation will be today, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
