Carol Elaine Johnson, age 84, died at Anderson Hospital August 12, surrounded by her daughters and granddaughters. She had struggled for many years with an autoimmune disease. Carol was born July 2, 1933 in Meridian to Raymond and Opal Harvey. At the age of 12 she traveled with her parents to the Panama Canal Zone where she later was married and raised four daughters. She often said her happiest memories were in this tropical paradise. She was a true friend to many and was well known for taking people in who were down on their luck. It was her personal goal to make at least one person laugh every day. She returned to Meridian after her father’s death to care for her aging mother until Opal’s death in 1996. Carols oldest daughter, Debra, died tragically the same year. Her beloved Jimmie Johnson preceded her in death in 2004. Her surviving daughters Lisbet Ghiselli, Linda Ruiz and Holly Lockley invite those who knew and loved her to attend a celebration of Carol’s life. The celebration will take place at Stephens Funeral Home 2800 Old North Hills St in Meridian at 1 pm September 2nd. Carol is also survived by two grandsons George Adair and Sean Babac; three granddaughters Amanda Malin, Desiree Ruiz, and Elizabeth Schlicher; four great-grandsons Austin and Landon Adair, Dean Malin and James Schlicher; one great-granddaughter Opal Malin.
