Ursula Gerlinde Martinez

July 16, 1944-May 6, 2012

Ursula was born in Bad Durkheim, West Germany on July 16, 1944 to Otto and Klara Trapp and passed away peacefully on May 6, 2012 in Merced, CA.

Ursula worked for Mervyns for over 25 years and also enjoyed ministering to institutions. She was a member of the Young Ladies Institute and St. Patrick’s Choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ursula is survived by her husband, Louie M. Martinez Sr. who she married in Bad Kreuznach, West Germany on July 4, 1964; son, Louie M. (Francine) Martinez Jr. of Merced; daughter, Katherine M. Martinez of Merced; 3 sisters, AnnaMaria (Heinrich) Zientz-Trapp, Krystal (Wingolf) Klonau, and Hildegard (Earnest) Miller all of West Germany; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Martinez, Morasha Estacio, Olivia Martinez, Scarlett Silva, Seselie Gaeta, Silbestre Gaeta, Stephen Martinez, and Sunny Martinez; and 8 great grandchildren, Stephanie Baeza, Lilith Martinez, Devyn Gaeta, Maddoxx Silva, Benjamin Perez, Naveah Gaeta-Martinez, Allissa Flores, and Jacob Flores. She was OMA (grandmother in German) to all of her family that knew her.

In lieu of flowers that family is asking that a donation in Ursula’s name to the ALS Foundation, 27001 Agoura Rd. Ste. 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.

Visitation will be at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 4:00pm-7:00pm with services to follow on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd., Gustine, CA at 1:30pm. A celebration of life will follow at Club Mercedes, 569 W. 9th St., Merced, CA from 4:00pm-7:00pm.
