Tony Castile Castro

Tony is preceded in death by his wife, Mary B. Castro, son Thomas D. Castro and grandson Timothy A. Castro. He is survived by his two sons, Anthony B. Castro and Timothy A. Castro, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Tony was a United States Army veteran. He served in Worms, Germany as an armored personnel carrier driver for a year and half. He was honorably discharged in August of 1954. He later married in 1955.

After retirement from many years of service from Merced County, Tony volunteered for the Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guard, and participated in many burials at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Tony loved to travel and take care of his plants and his pets.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with vigil service with rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merced, California. Interment will follow service at Evergreen Memorial Park.
