Ruby Mae Norton

Juby Norton, a longtime Planada resident, left us to go home at the age of 89. She was born in Baird, TX and later moved to California with her family where she would later meet and marry the love of her life, E.J. Norton. They moved to Planada in 1945.

Over the years, Juby worked as a foreman at Planada Packers Cannery; packed dried fruit arrangements for Hadley Farms; and packed tomatoes with Tuttle Farms. She had many talents and hobbies such as sewing and painting beautiful landscapes and gardens. Juby was a loving wife, mother and a doting grandmother. Her company was enjoyed also by many dear friends. She lived a long and very happy life. Her loving presence will be greatly missed.

Juby was preceded in death by her loving husband, E.J. Norton in 1996; and their son, Billy Don Norton in 1955.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Carolyn Jean Young (Norman) and Janice Susan Watts (Jerry) both of Planada; three grandchildren, Jimi Watts (Candy) of Catheys Valley, Donnie Young of Planada and Keely Young of Merced; great grandchildren, Shane Gillard of Atwater and Dolly Young Reyes of Merced; and nieces and nephews, Judy, Pat, Gene, Butch and Charlotte.

Juby will be laid to rest during a graveside service at Plainsburg Cemetery, 8943 E. Gillette Rd., Merced, CA on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11:00am with Pastor Rick Reagan of Planada Community Church officiating.
