Ricky was best known as a devoted father, grandfather (Papa), brother, and friend. Born in Merced, CA, to parents Rachel and Luis Cancino, Ricky lived in Atwater, Winton, Ohio, and Merced throughout his life.
He was the beloved brother to six siblings: two sisters and four brothers, whom he loved dearly. Ricky was the proud father of five children: daughters Rikki, Leilani, and Jade, and sons Gabriel and Roman. His children were his pride and joy, and his six grandchildren—Nove, Kash, Scarlett, Monroe, Royce, and Milo—were the greatest blessing in his life. Ricky loved being a Papa and cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren.
Family was everything to Ricky, and holiday gatherings were always a highlight. He enjoyed hosting his kids and grandkids for meals, movies, video games, and long conversations. There was never a dull moment with Ricky. His sense of humor and infectious laugh could instantly lift anyone's spirits. He was loving and caring, always ensuring that his family knew just how much they meant to him.
Ricky was a passionate fan of the Rams and looked forward to his Sunday football tradition. He also loved to travel, particularly to the ocean in Monterey and San Francisco. A skilled cook and grill master, he enjoyed barbecuing for his family. Ricky could often be found playing arcade games with his grandkids, watching boxing with his family, or indulging in his love for Charlie Brown and Snoopy. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, listening to music, and dancing.
Ricky worked for many years at NCI in Atwater, CA, and Best Electric in Merced, CA, before following his passion and becoming a massage therapist. He started his own business in 2011 and continued to practice until his passing. Helping others brought him great joy, and he was truly gifted at what he did.
Ricky was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. His warm smile, infectious laugh, and caring nature will be deeply missed. Every conversation with him ended with the words, "I love you, Kid," and we will all miss hearing those words.
