Richard Lloyd Tweed

He joined the Air Force in 1966 and served at Castle AFB until discharging in 1970.

He worked locally in Merced for many years. His last place of employment was Freitas Auto Wreckers for over 30 years.

He was a member of Club Mercedes, where he served as Sargent of Arms for many years and the Merced Eagles Aerie 2194, and the American Legion Post 83 in Merced.

He was a diehard Nascar fan seeing his first race at the age of 12. He also raced locally at the Merced Speedway. His all-time favorite driver was Richard Petty. He was also a fan of the Washington Redskins.

He and his wife were avid bowlers until his wife’s passing. When she passed away he lost his love for the game.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen, his parents, his sister Barbara, mother-in-law Geraldine Starnes, father-in-law Olin Starnes and son-in-law Tim Halfman.

He leaves behind his son Olin (Jozette) and his wife’s daughter, Kara Halfman. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Chris, sister Glenda, 5 grandchildren, Carol and Timothy Halfman, Austin, Ashlin and Aiden Tweed and 2 great grandchildren Ember and Gabriel Hundley.
