Nanette Claire Ontis

Nanette worked tirelessly as a cashier for Rite Aid for the past 37 years. She was well known and adored in the Merced community, where she also served as a member of the Italian Catholic Federation.

She loved her family more than life itself and she was devoted to ensuring her girls were taken care of and cared for. In addition to being a loving mother, she was a dedicated Nonna to her two grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Vanessa Nicholson (Kevin) and Marina Rees (Austin), her partner, Victor Gates, her two grandchildren, Ava and Oliver Nicholson, her brothers, Donald and Patrick Frago, her sister Paula, and many nieces and nephews. Nanette is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ontis, her parents, Augustine and Rose Frago, brothers Walt & Tommy Frago, sister Peggy Frago, and her grandparents.

The family has entrusted Nanette’s care to Stratford Evans Funeral Home, where Vanessa and Marina once worked. Her visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 27 from 3-6 pm with a rosary beginning at 6 pm. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 28 at 10 am. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery and reception to follow.
