Maxine was just 9 months old when her family moved to Rexburg, Idaho, she attended Idaho schools and started teaching at schools in Rexburg, Idaho. She later moved to San Diego, California in support of the World War ΙΙ Effort where she worked in an airplane factory as a dispatcher. In 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Paul Harris M.D.
Maxine was active in the Atwater-Merced area; she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she taught school in the surrounding area, she was President of the Atwater Women’s Club and PTA, Chairman of the Election Board and a member of the planning Commission in Atwater. Maxine was also a Charter Member in the Mercy Hospital Assistance League, active in the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, American Contract Bridge League and a member of the Merced Golf and Country Club for over 50 years. Her hobbies included playing the card game bridge, having a few rounds of golf and traveling to different places.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; Hyrum and Ella Goff Hallstrom, Husband; Arthur Paul Harris M.D. and her 5 siblings.
She is survived by her sons; Paul Arthur (Sharon) and twins Robert Lewis (Susan) and Richard Thomas (Patty), grandchildren; Amanda, Patrick and Alec, great grandchildren; Olivia, Eva and Kyan.
Services are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home and being conducted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A chapel service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Homes located at 1490 B Street Merced, California 95341.
