Maria Conception Porras

Maria Vega Porras was born on her family’s ranch in Terlingua, Texas on March 25th, 1925. Preceded in death by her parents, Julia Rivas and Isabel Vega, she was the 8th of 12 children, having 7 brothers and 4 sisters. She married Reyes Porras on December 2nd, 1945. Together they had 9 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughters, Hortencia (9 months old) and Sylvia Porras DuBois, grandsons, James Paul DuBois, Jr. and Augie Peña and great grandson, Matthew Reyes Porras, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Arturo Porras and his spouse Irma, Adelma Porras, Raul (Rudy) Porras, Ovidia Powell and her husband Art, Oscar Porras, Reyes Porras and his wife Veronica, Son-in-law, James Paul DuBois, Sr., Alise Diaz and her husband Richard, and Cindy Ramirez and Kat Trujillo. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, and her sister, Petra Vega Alvarado.

She was the light of our lives and will forever be missed for her humor, spunkiness, and meaningful advice. She passed the morning of June 4th, 2018.

Our family will gather to celebrate her life on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located on 1490 B Street, Merced, California, Pastor Fernando Montes de Oca of the Gospel House, Turlock, California will be officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Stratford Evans Reception Hall.
