Kenneth Pettigrew was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Paul Francis and Mary Janis Pettigrew on October 13, 1956. He died on September 9, 2016 in Atwater, California. He was the son of a military family and moved from Little Rock AFB, Arkansas to Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan in 1965 and then to Atwater when the family was staioned at Castle AFB in 1970.
Upon graduation from Atwater High School he enlisted in the US Air Force and served at England AFB, Louisiana and Travis AFB, California and then returned to Atwater with his first wife, Janelle, and their two babies. He worked at Woods Fruit Company for many years, he then drove routes for Canteen Vending, Langendorf Bread Co., Wonder Bread Co., Otis Spunkmeyer, Central Valley Concrete, and spent several years working at Whiteman Air Force Base in Central Missouri.
Although he struggled daily with his personal demons, he was a good father, son, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it or just to lend an ear. He was a life-long Oakland Raider fan and loved to watch as much football and baseball as he could. His favorite sporting activity was to watch his nephew, Brett, pitch, attending all of his high school and college games in the PAC-12, and watching all of his minor league games online.
Ken is predeceased by his father in March 2008, with whom he spent time before his death, reconnecting. He leaves behind to mourn his untimely death, his mother of Memphis, MO; his two children, Stacy (Steve) Lickiss of Jackson, CA and Kevin (Alyssa) Pettigrew of Williamsburg, VA; his four grandchildren, Madison and Emily Lickiss, Ashley and Hayley Pettigrew; his sister, Sandra Mooneyham and his nephew, Brett (Ashley) Mooneyham.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 8:00a.m.-11:00a.m. with funeral services following immediately after visitation at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street, Merced California 95348.
