The family moved to Merced during World War II, where Joy attended local elementary schools and was a member of the Campfire Girls. She attended Merced High School and was a member of the Marching 100 band. She belonged to Job’s Daughters where she served as Honored Queen.
Joy attended San Jose State University, and then returned to Merced to raise a family. She worked at Merced High School as a library technician, and was active in the booster clubs for athletics and the Marching 100.
In her retirement Joy enjoyed gardening in her Atwater home, reading, dinner events with friends and watching her grandchildren grow.
Joy is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Charles Osborn, her brother Ronald Skinner, and nephew Daniel Skinner. She is survived by her sister, Crystal Skinner of Atwater; sons Jeffrey (Laura) of Rapid City, Matthew (Jessica) of Folsom, and David (Natalie) of Atwater; and two grandsons and two great-grandchildren. The family will hold a private memorial.
