Joanne Marie Cline (Silva) was born on May 21, 1941, at Merced Community Hospital to Frank and Edna Silva. Joanne’s children, grandchildren, and sister were by her side when she passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Joanne lived her entire life in Merced, attending Our Lady of Mercy School until the 10th grade and transferred to Merced High School where she graduated in 1959. Following graduation Joanne started working for State Farm Insurance where she retired after over 35 years. During that time, Joanne obtained her state license in auto, fire, health & life insurance.
Joanne is predeceased by her parents Frank Anthony Silva and Edna Colleen Silva (Eckles), and her high school sweetheart, husband, Donald Walter Cline of 59 years who passed away on March 5, 2020. Joanne is survived by her two children, Michael Cline, Michelle Murdock, and her husband Richard, Six (6) grandchildren and Seventeen (17) great-grandchildren.
Joanne was the matriarch of her family and loved hosting HUGE family Christmas celebrations at her home. Our Grandma Jo always made a commitment to attend birthday parties, social activities and sporting events involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering and was a devoted member of Merced’s Young Ladies’ Institute, a Catholic Women’s Organization.
Her family is heartbroken over her passing, and she will be deeply missed by her sister and best friend Peggy Crites, as well as each of her family members, her many friends, and all who knew her.
Joanne’s unwavering love and generosity will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Covenant Care Hospice or Young Ladies’ Institute-Yosemite (#117) in Joanne’s name.
