Joann Freeman

June 14, 1936 - May 15, 2023

Merced, California - JoAnn Freeman, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 86 on Mother's Day.

JoAnn was born in Grand Island, Nebraska and moved to California with her family at an early age. She attended schools in Le Grand and Merced and was a majorette in the schools' marching bands. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Freeman, after they graduated from Merced High School.

In addition to being a housewife, JoAnn helped with the family business, Classic Auto Body, and attended a business course at Merced College. Much of her leisure time was spent enjoying her pet dogs and cats. Family gatherings and barbecues were almost weekly events during summer, while the children were growing up.

JoAnn is survived by her sons Michael Freeman and Scott Freeman. She was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, James (Jim) Michael Freeman and her daughter Marsha Jo (Henderson). She will be missed by family who will feel a void without her loving and caring nature

Her sons became truly amazing caregivers allowing her to remain in the home that she loved so much until her passing. Their patience and attentiveness made JoAnn's last few comfortable and secure.

A private celebration of life is planned for JoAnn and her close family.
