Jim passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2017 surrounded by loving family. Jim was born to Eugene and Marie Silveira on September 25, 1950. He was a lifelong resident of Merced and attended Merced schools and Merced College. His entire working career was at Savemart Supermarkets which began in 1969 and ended with retirement after 41 ½ years. Jim had many friends and interests throughout his life. He was always a busy guy keeping active and productive with many of them. He very much enjoyed golf days with his “foursome” of high school pals and their annual trip to Scottsdale for SF Giants springs training and rounds of golf. Snow skiing was another favorite activity he truly enjoyed along with memorable vacations doing so. He was a car enthusiast and was interested in anything that had to do with them. He was a past member and club officer of the Yosemite Corvette Club, but his beloved red Chevy pickup was his identity and most special to him. He affectionately named her “Pearl” because he purchased her on December 7, 1973. Jim was a member of YMI Atwater Council and was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish – Merced where he served on the Monday Club cleaning crew and also was a catechism teacher for the church prior to his illness. He is preceded in death by both parents. Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years Daralene “Dene” Silveira and daughters Jamie Kucius (Brian) of Merced and Natalie Threadgill (Randy) of Denair, CA and two grandchildren, Mallory and Levi Threadgill, a brother, Ken Silveira of Clovis, CA along with loving nephews and a niece. A vigil service with rosary will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral mass starting at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located at 671 E Yosemite Ave. Merced, California 95340 with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery located at 260 W Childs Ave. Merced, California 95341.
