It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Bailey, a devoted family member, a beloved friend, and a proud Navy veteran who served our nation with honor and dedication. Jim left us on August 2, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of courage, commitment, and a life well lived.Born on July 18th, 1936, James grew up with a sense of duty and a strong spirit of adventure.
He answered the call of service by enlisting in the United States Navy,embarking on a journey that would shape his character and touch the lives of those around him. James' years of service were characterized by commitment, sacrifice,and an unwavering dedication to preserving our nation's freedoms.During his time in the Navy, James demonstrated remarkable leadership,resilience, and a sense of camaraderie that earned him the respect of his fellow servicemen and women. He faced challenges head-on, both on the high seas and on foreign shores, exemplifying the values of honor, courage, and commitment that define the Navy's finest. Beyond his military service, James was a cherished friend, a loving family member, and a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, wisdom, quietness, and sense of humor touched the hearts of many,leaving an indelible mark on the lives he encountered.
James leaves behind his wife, Jeanette Wolaridge-Bailey, one daughter, nine grandchildren, one sister, one nephew and a large network of close friends and extended family members who will always hold Brother Jim close to their hearts. As we bid farewell to James Bailey, let us remember his service and sacrifice, celebrating a life that exemplified honor, duty, and unwavering love. James’ legacy will continue to inspire us all to live with the same sense of purpose and dedication that he demonstrated throughout his remarkable journey
A funeral service for James will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95340. Following the funeral service there will be a committal service at Merced Cemetery District, 1300 B Street, Merced, CA 95341.
