Gilbert Gabriel Torres

Gilbert Gabriel Torres was born to Augustine and Angelica Torres on June 28th, 1937 in Merced Falls, CA and passed away at the age of 85 on October 24, 2022 in Merced, CA. Gilbert moved with his family to Merced as a young child. After graduation from Merced High School he worked for Farmers Insurance. He then started work as a route salesman for Seven Up Distributing for 17 years making numerous friends along his delivery route, Gilbert then started a career with Merced County where he worked in several departments until his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish and loved attending church. Gilbert was very close to his family, enjoying barbeques throughout the year and the annual family reunion. Gilbert was a life-long Giants and Rams fan. He was fond of old western movies and loved his many trips to Kennedy Meadows where he could ride trails, fish and enjoy visiting with family and friends at the saloon. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his son Michael Torres (Victor Thwaites), daughter Jeanne Franco (Leonard), sister Lupe, grandchildren Jeremy Franco, Julie Mellow (Heath), John Franco (Kristen), and Chelsea Franco, (8) great-grandchildren, (2) great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ralph, Augie, Anita, Alfred, Alfonso, Tony, Dickie, Bobby, and Danny.

Services will be held on Saturday November 19th 2022 at St. Patrick's Parish, 671 E. Yosemite Ave. Merced CA, with Rosary scheduled at 8:30 am and a Funeral Mass at 9am. There will be a reception at Stratford Evans Funeral Home- Back Venue Room located at 1490 "B" St. Merced CA immediately following.
